Steps of Faith offers two parallel programs: Mentoring and Education. Both programs utilize Christian volunteers as mentors or teachers to assist our families.
The Mentoring Program matches mature Christian mentors with selected individuals for two mentoring options:
- Individual: This option encourages the mentor and client to meet weekly at our Center for one-on-one sessions, with the purpose of developing a mature and spiritual perspective to life’s difficult decisions. Topics of discussion are individually selected by the mentor and client.
- Group: This option brings together a group of five or six individuals of various ages and backgrounds to create a” virtual family.” The group mentors meet with their “families” over a six month period, with each meeting driven by a contextual purpose. The monthly activities typically focus on education, service, fun, food and worship.
The Education Program is staffed by mature Christian volunteers. All classes are open to anyone interested, but instructors and subject matter are often geared toward a specific group. With this in mind, three groups currently exist:
- A-Team: the men’s group
- Ruby’s Circle: for women
- GG’s Place: for children
In these classes, crucial life skills are taught, including the management of personal finances, parenting, health and nutrition. Additional areas of education include classes on personal improvement as well as bible studies. For a complete list, for a complete list click here.
Motivated students who successfully complete their coursework are rewarded with points they can accumulate and redeem at our “Baby Boutique.”
